Fine Welsh, Georgian cross-banded oak 8 day long case moondial clock.
Made by Thomas Evans of Bontuchel (Pontuchel) near Mold, Denbighshire. Very fine proportioned case standing 7 feet 2 inches tall. The dial is 13 inches by 20 inches. Reeded pillars on the trunk and hood. Mahogany Swan necked pediment, with unusual pateria that seem to depict Priestly the scientist. Clock by the same maker featured in the book by Richard Bebb Welsh Furniture 1250-1950.
