Lovely Rare Victorian Rosewood wheel barometer, made by a member of the famous Amadio Family of opticians and barometer makers. The dial is signed J. Amadio, 6, Shorters Court, Frogmorton Street, London. He is listed as making barometers at this address from 1843-53. The case is profusely inlaid with mother of pearl, he is well know for barometers of this kind. What makes the barometer very rare and unusual is the size of the dial,being only 5 inches in diameter, and the barometer measures 37 inches in length. Barometers with 6 inch dials are rare but this is the only 5 inch dial I have seen in 35 years dealing with barometers
